To new Members - What the MASM community is all about - please reada></
Hello new members and greeting to all the older members as well.
I thought that it might be a good idea to post a small synopsis of what the community philosophy is here. MASM the organization has been around for 17 years. The organization is dedicated to serving the community by offering educational opportunities (like the upcoming conference), organizing field trips for educational purposes, Assisting with networking in the hobby locally (via the monthly meetings at the homes of volunteers on the board), and through cooperation with other reefing clubs in the state of Michigan. In essence this site and this community is dedicated to giving back to the hobbyist on the local levels.
One way that we do that is through the conference mentioned above. The members of MASM volunteer their time to put this on once a year for all hobbyist in the state. From securing a venue, booking speakers, obtaining raffle donations from businesses, right down to the food it is a volunteer effort. The goal is to get the experts to you and give you access to them locally without the need to travel out of state. Any money that is made (a so called profit if you will) goes toards putting on another event for the hobbyist in the state to enjoy and learn from. Once a year we try to put on a big frag swap and we encourage you to take this opportunity to come out, get some great deals, and meet your fellow hobbyist.
The philosophy here is to offer a positive environment where people can grow in the hobby without the fear that others will make fun of you for mistakes or miscalculations. We are here to help first and foremost. The Chat feature is a free feature to all members so please feel free to pop in and say hello!!
Again we welcome you to the board and look forward to your input.
