Frustrated - contemplating getting out.
Ever since I have moved, back in 08, my tank has barely survived. Part of that, possible largely, is due to my lack of free time and when I have free time I spend most of that with the kids. About a year ago in an attempt to make the tank less maintenance needy I switch some equipment around, including swaping halides for T5's. Ever since I got these T5's I've had problems. Every couple of months they go out on me. Either bulb dies, balast dies, unknow wiring problem and once I never understood and the lights just started working again. Each time I don't notice for a week since I leave for work by 7:00 and get home around 8:00 ish, and thus never see if the lights turned on or not. And, each time corals die. In the last year I lost a few fish, which I've not lost in a long time. I'm down to two fish, a Regal Angel and a Maroon - and virtually no coral.
I may just pack it in until have time to devote to it. I've not decided for certain yet.
Just needed to vent a bit.
