For the MASM Breeding Initiative's first Breeder's Challenge we aren't going to be real picky on what to breed. Below is a list of suggested species to work with. If you'd like to work with a species that is not on the list, feel free to do so! All we ask is that you start a thread in the "Breeding Journal" forum to document your progress. Suggested Species: Clownfishes - Subfamily Amphiprioninae Dottybacks - Family Pseudochromidae Cardinalfishes - Family Apogonidae Gobies - Family Gobiidae Jawfish - Family Opistognathidae Seahorses - Family Syngnathidae Peppermint & Cleaner Shrimps - Genus Lysmata If you have any questions feel free to ask. Happy breeding!

Any comments on the difficulty scale of each? I'm planning on seahorse; likely erectus, but I'm not sure yet; and black foot trochus. I have not planned out the system yet though.

Question. Does only newly aquired specimens count or can one use work that is allready in progress? Not really asking for myself just some general clarification. Personally until very recently I was breeding Synchiropus Splendidus. I had very good luck with getting the offspring to about 200 hours post spawn but I would always loose them mainly to rotifer crashes. Unfortunatly I lost my breeding pair in a act of human error/stupidity. I was collecting a spawn and decided to leave the pumps off to feed the coral. I ended up falling asleep on the couch and woke up to complete devistation. Obviously this is past work so Im not asking to use it I just wanted clarification for the rest of those that may be working with a species.
